Mindfulness·02: mindful breathing practice

Mindfulness · 02 Breathe

Using the body as an object of Mindfulness helps us develop a more intimate and sensitive connection to it, so we understand its states more clearly.

Take mindful breathing, for example. From the beginning to the end of life, the breath is like a thread connecting every moment. When practicing mindful breathing, you can find the part of your body where the breath feels most noticeable, and gently rest your attention there.

Maybe it’s at the tip of your nose—you notice the subtle sensation of air moving in and out. Or perhaps it’s in the rise and fall of your chest or abdomen. Wherever it is, just bring your awareness to that movement.

As you deepen your practice, you might start to notice the entire process of each inhale, each exhale, and even the brief pauses in between.
